Parents Sponsorship

Are your parents outside Canada and want to reunite with you in Canada? In 2017 The Government of Canada introduced new application intake process for parents and grandparents program (PGP). You can only sponsor your Parents and Grandparents if-:

  • You’re at least 18 years old
  • You live in Canada
  • You’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada
  • You have enough money to support the persons you want to sponsor

Who can be sponsored?

  • Own parents and grandparents, related by blood or adoption.
  • In case of divorce or separation, you can sponsor your parents’ and your grandparents’ spouses, or conjugal or common-law partners.
  • Dependant brothers and sisters, or half brothers and sisters.

In order to meet the eligibility, your parents and grandparents and their dependants must provide:

The minimum necessary income requirement, which the sponsor must meet for each of the three years is equal to the Low cut-offs (LICOs) plus 30%, taking into account the number of family members for whom they are or will be financially responsible.

Evidence of Income when sponsoring parents and grandparents could be in the form of -:

  • Notice of Assessment issued to the sponsor by the Canada Revenue agency for each of the three consecutive taxation years immediately preceding the date of your application.
  • Option C printout issued to the sponsor by the Canada Revenue agency for each of the three consecutive taxation years immediately preceding the date of your application.
