Canada is one of the world’s most desirable hotspot to visit due to its incredible natural habitat, security and multiculturalism. Every year, Canada welcomes more than 50 million people from different countries. One can visit Canada as a tourist, to see family and friends, or to do business. Depending on the country of origin, and the reason for your visit, you will need a Temporary Resident Visa(TRV). Certain countries are exempt from visa requirement for Canada. Citizens from visa-exempt countries must apply online and obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for their first visit. An eTA can be used for multiple entries while it is valid. Most visitors to Canada may visit for up to 6 months on each entry. Visitors wishing to stay longer must apply for and be granted an extension.

Super Visa

This visa is specifically Designed for parents and grandparents of Canadian Citizens and Permanent residents. This visa allows them to stay up to 2 years after each entry to Canada. The expiry date of this visa is 10 years. One can do the application for this visa either online or paper based. Eligibility requirements to apply under this visa-:

  • Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
  • Be allowed to enter Canada and
  • Meet certain other conditions

Immigration officers would consider several things before they decide if you can come to Canada. You must be a genuine visitor to Canada who will leave at the end of your visit. An officer will consider following factors when you apply:

  • Your ties to your home country,
  • The purpose of your visit,
  • Your family and finances
  • The overall economic and political stability of your home country
  • Invitation letter from host
  • Have valid Canadian medical insurance coverage for at least one year
  • Have an immigration medical exam
  • Prove that your child or grandchild in Canada meets a minimum income threshold,
  • Provide a written statement from that child or grandchild that he or she will give you financial support.
